Gianluigi Batista’s New Appointment
Legal Law Limited & Partners is delighted to announce that Gianluigi Batista, partner, has been admitted to the International Criminal Court’s List of Counsel. The International Criminal Court (ICC) is an intergovernmental, international tribunal sitting in The Hague, Netherlands, and has jurisdiction to prosecute individuals for international crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
The ICC complements existing national judicial systems and exercises its jurisdiction when certain conditions are met, in particular when national courts are unable or unwilling to prosecute criminals or when the United Nations Security Council or an individual State refers a situation to the ICC; as of November 2019 123 No. States are parties to the Statute of the Court. Vincenzo will be added to the roster of Counsel and he will forthwith be able to appear before the ICC.
Vincenzo is a dually qualified, Avvocato and Solicitor. Vincenzo has wide experience of a variety of jurisdictions and frequently pleads before a wide range of Italian courts of any jurisdiction including the Supreme Court of Cassation. Vincenzo has full rights of audience in Tribunals, Coroners’ Courts, Magistrates’ Courts, County Courts as well as the Family Court European Courts and the European Court of Human Rights.
He extremely well fitted to assist in an extensive range of international matters and has several post-graduate courses, including a course in Comparative Procedural
law at the University of Salerno; a European workshop for International Criminal system; International and Humanitarian Law related to the European Initiative Democracy and Human Rights at Second University of Naples and the University Pantheon-Sorbonne, Paris; a course on Humanitarian and International Criminal Law at the Irish Centre for Human Rights, Galway; as well as a course on International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law at Salzburg University Faculty of Law, Austria.
